Who can join? Barn Rats Club is open to all horse interested and horse crazy children ages 4-12 and grouped by age.
When are the meetings? Barn Rats Club activities are scheduled after school ,September 1st -May 31st, Children choose which day of the week to attend based on the monthly schedule. Homeschooled kids program available 10:00am to 12:00pm and 12:00 to 2:00pm weekdays.
What are the activities? Barn Rats Club members will learn all about horses, how to handle, feed, care for and ride horses through a variety of supervised barn lessons, videos, games, crafts and riding lessons in the riding arena. No riding in inclement weather.
What will you learn?
How to care for horses. Confidence building through grooming, haltering, leading and tacking up skills. Horse breeds, colors, riding disciplines and riding tack, horsemanship and barn management through interactive games and activities. Riding skills to be taught include; safety around horses, proper mount and dismount, walk, trot and canter, basic vaulting, cavaletti work, hacking out, basic dressage and basic jumping, proper ring etiquette and introduction to fun showing.
What is included in the membership? One day per week- 2 hour session - Includes : learning materials, riding, a snack, use of an ASTM approved helmet, boots if we have your size, all learning materials, and invitations to all Barn Parties and Events. All children will groom and handle our horses every meeting. No riding in inclement weather. We will meet in the barn rain or shine but will cancel in the event of icey roads and storms!
What is the Cost?
One day a week -$75.00 per month, due on the first day of the month . New memberships enrolled on or before the first day of the month. Month by month membership. All membership activities must be completed within the month.
